Cayangan Lake

Coron is well known for their pristine beaches and untouched landscapes. My favorite place is the view on top of the cliff when going towards the Cayangan Lake. This is the poster shot for Coron. People don't leave the place without having the same shot and the same composition. I just love the natural framing of the body of water and for me it never gets old.

I had a nice talk with the Tokyo Extreme Weekender organizers last weekend and they are very interested in this place. I hope they could arrange a tour in my country someday :p

Twin Lagoon

This is the entrance to the famous Twin Lagoon. It's a shame that you can't bring your camera (unless it is waterproof) because you have to swim under the rocks to enter the lagoon. It is a nice adventure for those who can swim :)

I'm happy to have a fast enough camera to take 3 exposures with no tripod on a rocking boat. The sky was really blown out but I'm glad I was able to pull out some detail from the -2 exposure.

A Moment of Sunshine

Weather was not cooperating with me. There was a storm all over the country hence a cloudy atmosphere in Palawan was expected. There was only few minutes of sunburst that I was able to capture. The lighting was very tricky and I wasn't able to capture things properly. I wonder if a CPL would help in this case...

I've stopped using most of my Photoshop plug-ins. It's either Lightroom is already doing a good job or I'm just getting lazy. I feel it is the latter. I need something to break through this hurdle I am in. I need to find that "something" in my photos so I can continue to grow as a photographer. Do I need better equipment? Technique? Places to visit? Not really sure... I need to figure that out for now.

The Swing

I have a new tutorial about textures to make photos more interesting. Kindly check it out
Textures Tutorial

Many beaches of Coron boasts their white powdery sands which is said to be better than Boracay. People who love the night life of drinking and partying will probably not be interested in this place. Coron beaches are all about being one with the nature. No silly fire dancing or drunkards, just a beautiful beach with a beautiful view. My kind of place.

The Lonely Hut

Visited Coron, Palawan while I was on my 2 week vacation in the Philippines. There is so much hype about this place that I had no choice but to check it out. I've been to Puerto Princesa in Palawan and I have to say the beauty of Coron can easily match those of Puerto Princesa. Indeed this is one of the most beautiful places in the country. Almost any direction you take entails an awesome scenery of sea and mountains. Even with a bad weather (as seen in the picture), rarely it will spoil your trip to this beautiful paradise.

This shot was taken from Mt. Tapyas which roughly requires 786 steps to get to the peak. Though it is not the tallest mountain in the area, it still provides a magnificent 360 degree view of the town below. Initially, I was waiting for the sun to come down. But because of the cloudy weather (it was actually raining hard in different parts of the country) I decided to go down and visit the other sites of the town rather than to get disappointed.

Missing the Warmth of Palawan

Taken in Pristine Beach, Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Being stuck here at home today reminded me of some of the beautiful places I have visited in the Philippines. This was also one my first attempt in HDR. This was one of my "lucky" where I was able to align the horizon properly and was able to utilize the rule of thirds.
